The Post has more on the most recent round of cuts to arts funding — but not the last? Everyone is pretty pissed by the way they found out: postings on the programs’ websites rather than any official notice.
April Britski of the Canadian Artists’ Representation, which represents visual artists, related a moment of panic during a conference call between arts professionals on Wednesday, when someone noticed a change discouraging further applications for two of four components to the Canadian Arts and Heritage Sustainability Program.
“We were on a teleconference with the [Canadian Conference of the Arts] and somebody checked their Web site and found out that they’d posted this,” Ms. Britski said. “Apparently that’s how most of us are finding out — not that anyone’s contacted us from Heritage, it’s just posted on Web sites and all of a sudden the programs are gone.”
