The Vancouver Sun decided to review Lumiere in the wake of chef Rob Feenie’s departure. The result? Meh.
Curious, I went and I ate. I would find, by the time I’d had my last bite, that Lumiere food was not what it once was and I would conclude that it is running about 75 per cent of the impeccable standards I remember, particularly in food presentation.
It’s still a noteworthy restaurant but the thrills were few and far between. I visited hours after confirming the split between Feenie and the owners, aware that Feenie hadn’t been at the helm for some time. Feenie had said that the food at Lumiere was no longer his.
